Post-1901
Census Project Details and results of a Parliamentary discussion
leading to the release of Post-1901 Census information which had formerly
been declared 'unavailable' or 'unreleaseable' due to 'privacy concerns'
voiced by a former Federal Privacy Commissioner and a probable desire by
Statistics Canada to keep the data available only for their statistics
research and its data sales revenues. The impetus of this initiative
was provided primarily by Canadian genealogists with much encouragement
by genealogists from other countries and a few brave Canadian Parlimentarians
and Senators.
